I seek to:
- enliven theory in connection with knowledge and limitations of students’ standpoint. I facilitate learning from diverse experiences within and outside of the classroom via activities that link concepts to students’ own experiences, or lack thereof.
- Accommodate a wide range of learning styles via interactive, diverse activities and assessments.
- Cultivate foundational academic skills by providing and modeling guidelines for active reading so students can first understand authors’ arguments before jumping to critique.
- My pedagogy also involves service-learning and social transformation.

Some examples of topics I have planned and facilitated curriculum around:
- tenants, workers rights, and campaign development workshops as part of Chinatown Community for Equitable Development in Chinatown, Los Angeles and Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
- political education, leadership development curriculum–for example, as a former political internship coordinator for the Taiwanese American Citizens League.
- Addressing anti-Blackness in Asian American communities.
- Economic justice and queer communities of color for youth in Californians for Justice.
Academic Support and Mentoring
- In my first post-college full-time job, I provided educational support to immigrant youth in Brooklyn.
- I provide guidance and mentorship around academic success and applying to college for aspiring first-generation college-goers in Khmer Girls in Action and Californians for Justice.
Mentorship in Community Research
I managed and trained teams of college and high school interns to administer surveys, conduct interviews, and report and disseminate findings around Building Healthy Communities in Long Beach and Santa Ana. I coordinated and oversaw survey administration and interviews. I conducted interviews with youth and staff organizers about youth organizing in Santa Ana and Long Beach. I contributed to the writing and editing of popular reports summarizing interview and survey data.
