My own involvement in community organizing shapes every aspect of what I do. Currently, I am engaged in the Long Beach People’s Budget Coalition. Previous organizing work has involved:
- the Graduate Student Organizing Committee of USC Forward: working to build power among graduate students, adjunct faculty, and many employees on USC campus to create a more just and equitable university.
- In the past, I’ve contributed to pro-equitable development, pro-tenants rights efforts in Chinatown, Los Angeles and Sunset Park, Brooklyn. In those groups, I played several roles involving coordination and strategy, including campaign chair (leading strategic thinking and campaigns around tenants rights) & media producer.
- I have also supported Asian American youth leadership development efforts– for example, as a former political internship coordinator for the Taiwanese American Citizens League. I am especially interested in encouraging young Asian Americans to think about justice broadly (by, for example, interrogating and dismantling anti-Blackness).
